Abstract

The article is devoted to Michel de Montaigne’s ideas on the experience of self-knowledge. Montaigne wonders what the boundaries of the human mind are and whether truth is accessible to man. As a result of these reflections, a conflict arises between the doctrine of Montaigne and the doctrine of "natural theology" which was the most authoritative at that time, i.e. Renaissance.
